The sound, both acoustically and recorded, is fantastic. I personally
am endorsing Milagro multi-string guitars and am selling them on
eBay and through my Bartolex
USA website because I have already played hundreds of gigs on my own
Milagro / Cathedral / Bartolex guitars (all designed by Neris), and I'm continually amazed at
how good these guitars are. These guitars are the answer to my personal
dream of having high-quality multi-string guitars in standard production,
at an affordable price -- and maybe it will be for you as well.
MILAGRO / BARTOLEX
Milagro, Bartolex, and Cathedral Guitars are designed by Neris Gonzalez, who also supervises production at the very best western-trained luthier workshop in China. Milagro is the all-solid, top-of-the-line model, with premium woods and the best possible materials and workmanship, but still at an affordable price. Bartolex is the mid-line models, with solid spruce or cedar tops, and laminated Indian Rosewood back & sides. Cathedral Guitars is the entry-level line, with solid cedar tops and Mahogany back and sides.
I have played and owned dozens of multi-string classical guitars,
and this instrument rivals, equals or surpasses most luthier-built guitars in the 3k - 6k range. This guitar has a AAA-grade
solid Cedar top (Spruce top available upon request), solid East Indian Rosewood back & Sides,
ebony fretboard, and creates a beautifully-balanced sound
with nice trebles, deep basses, and excellent resonance and sympathetic
sustain. The alto scale allows the guitar to be tuned up to G, and the extended length bass scale plus the sound port, creates a big, powerful sound with the excellent volume and projection. This is a wonderful guitar for playing lute music, transcriptions, and original compositions.
I have the guitar tuned in Romantic tuning in to G, a standard
11-string tuning where 1-6 are tuned up a minor third, and 7-11 descend step-wise:
7=D, 8=C, 9=B, 10 =A, 11=G. It can also be tuned in Dm tuning for Baroque Dm lute music. Strings
By Mail has a great selection of 11-string sets and can
put together custom sets for you at a discount over individual
strings. Several excellent string manufacturers offer multi-string
sets, including D'Addario,

8 = 618 mm

Here are 12 quick, 1-take MP3s of this guitar, tracked
using a Neumann TLM67 mic, into a Undertone Audio MPEQ-1 preamp using a Metric Halo ULN8 converter going into Logic.
This is straight, pure signal with no additional reverb, EQ or any other effects.
This guitar is very easy to record, and would make an excellent
classical 11-string guitar for a classical CD, or for recording
nylon-string guitar tracks in any musical style:
1 | Resonance Test
(Showing Sympathetic Resonance)
2 | Intonation
(Harmonic @12th fret
followed bt fretted note)
3 | Corn Yards (Scottish Renaissance,
Rowallen Lute Book, 1596-1657)
4 | Prelude in Dm
(J.S. Bach, Baroque)
5 | Packington's Pound (English
Renaissance, before 1596)

7 | Se A Mi Acorgo
8 | Improv
(Basses + Trebles)
9 | Love Song
(Machaut, c. 1350)
10 | Joy to the Person
11 | Wachsa Mesa
(H. Neusidler, German Renaissance)
12 | Go From My Window
13 | Bianca Fiore
14 | Bouree in Em
(J.S. Bach, Baroque)
15 | Brian Boru's March
16 | From the Beginning
(Emerson, Lake, Palmer)
In short, this guitar is a wonderful concert guitar and/or recording guitar
for any intermediate to professional-level player, and it would make
a great guitar for classical concerts, recitals, local amplified gigs,
as well as recording studio projects.
"The guitar is is very well built and is simply beautiful -- I love how it looks and how it feels. The basses are loud and the Sound Port actually DOES help in increasing the volume. The thickness of the neck is perfect and feels very comfortable. The alto tuning makes the sound more lute-like. Overall, I am very pleased with the guitar.
And I must say I feel VERY thankful for people like you for making the dream of owning a multi-stringed guitar a reality. I never have thought I'd own two 10-string guitars and an 11-string alto guitar that sound and play great, without having to take out a second mortgage!!!
